Porsche 911

Classic (1964–1973)

The original 911 established the rear-engine, air-cooled formula, growing from a 2.0-litre flat six to 2.4 litres and, in the Carrera RS, 2.7 litres. It is a light, entirely mechanical car with no driver aids, and originality now drives value more than condition alone. Structural rust in the floor, sills, front suspension pan and around the glass is the primary risk on any car.

Sold from 1964 to 1973, when the G-Series cars with impact bumpers replaced it. Coupe and Targa bodies were offered, and the Carrera RS arrived in 1973. US-market cars were fitted with emissions equipment that European cars did not have.
